At only around 200 metres from the beach this little apartment in the Catalan village of Cerbère is an inexpensive pied a terre on the Mediterranean coast. Cerbière is immediately adjacent to the Spanish border so is ideally located for exploring the unspoilt coastline of this corner of France, the stunning neighbouring Spanish region which was beloved by Salvador Dali and the magnificent backdrop of the Pyrénees.
The apartment combines the vintage outside appearance of a traditional town house with a modern interior. Equally suitable for year round living and as a holiday home, the property, on the first floor, is currently arranged as:-
To the front of the central corridor, overlooking the street and the primary school opposite: bedroom, lounge, and wash room, with shower, WC, and washbasin.
To the rear, at the other side of the corridor, is a living room with small courtyard off, a separate American style kitchen and a utility room, housing the washing machine and fridge-freezer, WC, washbasin, and space for storage.
On the second floor, outside, is a lockable shed.
ABOUT THE AREA
Cerbère, a hidden gem, sits where the Eastern Pyrenees fall into the sea. The people are as fiercely Catalan as French, and very welcoming. There is a large back country for hiking, and the Mediterranean for water sports and diving, particularly in the nearby marine reserve. The village is at the end of the Vermillion coast, which stretches from Argeles sur Mer to the Costa Brava and is only five minutes' drive to Spain, where the French locals are often to be found in Portbou's Friday market. Venture further to discover the land of Salvador Dali. The village has the facilities one would expect in a small town and across the border, in Spain, you can benefit from good value Spanish shopping too.
