For those of an active persuasion, there are kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting facilities close by, and in Winter the nearest ski resort is only 35km away. Quillan itself has many fine hotels, bars and restaurants and a local market, twice a week. It has a busy events calendar throughout the year with many outdoor concerts exhibitions, cycle races and even motor racing. The medieval city of Carcassonne and its airport are only 50 minutes away, and in the opposite direction, the Mediterranean coast is just over an hour away.
