The house is in the commune of Joussé in the southern Vienne. Gencay, a market town, is 19 minutes drive away while Usson Du Poitou and Chateau Garnier are both under 10 minutes away. Poitiers City and airport can be reached by car in around three quarters of an hour. Charroux is around quarter of an hour away and Civray and L’Isle Jourdain - both lovely market towns - can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.

Close by attractions include the Eleanor of Aquitaine Trail, fishing lakes, the Vallee des Singes, Futuroscope, the Floating Village,  Circuit du Val de Vienne (a racing track), Abbey of Notre-Dame de la Réau, canoeing, sailing, fishing, bungee jumping over the river, zip lines through the trees and over the river etc. Location. 

South Vienne is in the Poitou Charente and has long summers and short winters generally. It is steeped in history with many chateaux to see and lots of other amenities close by. There is a mix of English, Dutch and Belgium nationalities in this region.
