Font-Romeu, at an elevation of about 1700 metres, is famous for itss blue skies and is situated is the Languedoc-Roussillon the sunniest region in France. The climate has warm dry summers (occasional thunder storms) and cold snowy winters. It is a ski area, the closest slopes a 5 minute drive away with other areas nearby. The area boasts lakes, thermal springs, a water park, walking trails and a variety of sporting activities. Its proximity to the Mediterranean (1 hr 30 mins), Perpignan (1 hr 10 mins) Spain (15 mins) and Andorra (50 mins) provides for several interesting changes of scene.
