La Forge, stands in a plot of approximately 350 sq meters and is LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE BEACH. It was originally the village forge. Some years ago it was SYMPATHETICALLY RENOVATED and used as a holiday home which also has an INDEPENDENT STUDIO APARTMENT. The salon retains some ORIGINAL FEATURES such as the bellows from the forge which have been incorporated into the chimney which also houses a very efficient log burner.

The outside of La Forge is deceptive as it looks like a modern house but when you enter the house it is a gem. The kitchen has been remodelled and has a gas hob with extractor fan and built in electric oven. The kitchen is large enough for a table and chairs but when you enter the salon through glazed doors it feels like another world. The high pine clad ceiling, the feature chimney, the balcony feel of the mezzanine floor, there is a quirky ceiling light made to look like candles on a beam (as it would have been when the salon was a working forge). The salon is a large open area and has three built in cupboards, one serves as a wardrobe. One part of the salon is a living area while the other is a dining area.

There is also an independent studio which was built in about 2004. This has a living room/kitchen/bedroom and a shower room. It is useful extra family accommodation but could be rented out.


La Forge is situated in the ancient village of Les Conches. Les Conches is a small village, very quiet in winter but a hub of activity in summer with a bar/depot du pain plus a locally grown vegetable outlet. La Forge is on a quiet road approx 15 mins walk from the beach, which is famous for its sandy beaches and surfing. The opposite direction after a few minutes' walk you enter a nature conservation area which is heaven for photographers. The nearest airports are Nantes and La Rochelle approx one hour from the property. The closest town is La Tranche (10 min by car) a bustling typical French seaside town.

La Forge has a large terrace area overlooking the garden. There is parking within the ground for two/three cars. The garden consists of a grass area with flower borders and a secret garden which has been made as a quiet area. Within the main garden is a useful shed for outside tools etc. The well which is covered and fitted with a pump is useful for watering the garden saving on the water bill.


All of the windows in the main house are fitted with insect blinds.


In the salon there is a very efficient log burner plus two modern electric wall heaters. The downstairs bedroom has a modern electric wall heater as does the kitchen. The bathroom has a heated towel rail.
