ABOUT THE AREA

Jarnac is an attractive, lively town on the Charente river midway between Cognac and Angouleme, offering a wide range of facilities including several supermarkets, plus a traditional indoor market which is open on most days with full market stalls on Tuesday and Friday. There are boulangeries, restaurants and bars, together with doctors, dentists and so on. Kayaks, canoes and cruisers can be hired to explore the river. Land lubbers can walk the tranquil banks to Cognac and back or sample the wares at Courvoisier or Hine, cognac producers, whose headquarters are overlooking the river.

The house is in a small hameau just 1.5km from Foussignac where there is a boulangerie that also serves coffee, and to which one can walk through the vineyards.
