ABOUT THE AREA
Cardaillac is in the Lot department and is officially recognised as one of France's "Plus Beaux Villages". The village has a boulangerie, café, auberge, post office, medical centre, shop, hairdresser, crèche and nursery school. The house is within easy walking distance of all of these facilities.
The village is approximately two hours north of Toulouse, two hours south of Limoges and around an hour from Brive, all of which have international airports. Toulouse, in particular, has good, year round flights as it is the base for the Airbus Corporation in France. The city also has a huge range of shops, services and sights to visit and is well worth a day out or an overnight stay.
The surrounding countryside is characterised by rolling hills, chestnut woods and the spectacular river valleys of the Lot and Cele. Situated on the edge of the Causse du Quercy, which is a magnificent limestone plateau area covered with oak forest, a mass of paths edged with dry stone walls, villages built with the blonde stone taken from the Causse, it is an area filled with a lot of very varied countryside to explore.
