ABOUT THE AREA
The house is on the edge of the village of Saint Laurs which is a small but growing community on the western edge of the Deux Sevres department. The area, which is midway between Poitiers and La Rochelle is rural but access to transport links is good; in less than 30 minutes you are in busy Fontenay-le-Comte which gives quick access to the A83 autoroute and to a very popular tourist area known as the Marais Poitevin, where pretty waterways criss cross the countryside giving it the nick-name "Venise Vert". It is just over an hour to the fashionable seaside town of La Rochelle.
There are two international airports around an hour's drive away - at Poitiers and La Rochelle. Poitiers has good train connections for Paris.
