St Martial sur Isop is a small village in the rural Haut Vienne, which is in the old region of Limousin. The nearest shopping is in Bussiere Potevine which is 8km away and, for bigger items, the larger towns of Limoges (60km), Saint Junien (30km) and Confolens (25km). Limoges airport is about 45 minutes away with regular flights to Stansted, East Midlands and Bristol. The region is mainly agricultural and forestry interlaced with quiet roads and chemins rurals, ideal for riding or cycling. There are two good golf courses within 30km, at Mortemart and Saint Junien, as well as two more in Limoges, a regional centre renowned for its porcelain.
