Quiet roads and peaceful villages abound. Anthony Peregrine (Daily Telegraph) comments of the six miles of Argeles beach: "To the north, it's as wide as a desert with pines and scrubland. You could gallop a horse round here and not hit anyone, even in August. Further south, there's funfair fun for the children, a fine prom for strolling or cycling. Then, beyond the port further south still, the flat coast sprouts hills, cliffs and coves."

The local village is within walking distance and here you will find shops, restaurants, post office, pharmacy and more, while further afield you are 35 minutes from Perpignan and 60 minutes from Girona (in Spain) which both have international airports. You can reach Carcassonne in under 2 hours and it is only 2 hours to Barcelona.
