Sitting in the Dordogne but near the Charente border, Savignac is close to many historic towns such as the attractive town of Brantome; just 30 minutes away with top class restaurants, good markets and kayaking on the river. The house is in a hamlet. Verteillac, 9kms away, is the nearest village. In Verteillac there are several cafes and restaurants and a farmers' market on Saturdays plus a monthly flea market. The pretty market town of Villebois Lavalette is 14 kilometres away. A little further is the regional capital, Perigueux, with excellent shops and facilities. However there is no need to go as far as these towns for entertainment as there are plenty of country pursuits on offer and local shops and markets nearby. The TGV (high speed rail) arrives at Angouleme which is 30 minutes away and the nearest airport is an hour away at Bergerac.
